The objective of the eleventh MIRRI SR hackathon, funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, was to design a conceptual solution for the Regional Development Portal of the Košice Region as an innovative digital platform that effectively integrates and visualizes relevant regional data while supporting decision-making processes, investment decisions, and strategic planning.
The expected outcome of the hackathon titled Regional Development Portal, held in September 2024, was primarily the creation of a comprehensive web application concept that provides an overview of the business and investment environment, increases data usability, delivers advanced analytical tools, and offers a new digital experience for users.
Achieved results
After the successful evaluation of the hackathon, the winning proposals were transformed into the final version of the portal. The structure and functionalities of the solution reflect the specific requirements defined in the brief and deliver the following key outcomes:
- Integrated data catalog
A system for the structured access to alphanumeric datasets that can be subsequently visualized.
- Map viewer
A thematic mapping application that, as a modular tool, enables the visualization of various thematic layers (e.g. transport infrastructure, demographic indicators, environmental factors), thereby enhancing the quality of spatial analysis and planning.
- Structured overview of information about the region
A systematic presentation of information about the territory of the Košice region, providing a clear and relevant information base for potential investors and other stakeholders.
- User-oriented interface
Intuitive navigation within the portal allows different user groups to quickly find relevant information without the need for specialized knowledge.
These outputs represent a fully implemented solution that serves as a functional foundation for further development, planning, and decision-making at the level of the Košice Self-Governing Region.
