Infomat Web Application

The goal of the first MIRRI SR hackathon, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, was to bring innovative technological solutions that would help effectively combat the spread of disinformation and hoaxes, thus contributing to the protection of democracy and the security of citizens.

The winning team, Pishkotky, developed the Infomat application during the 9-month project implementation period. The core task of the app is to promote critical thinking and media literacy in the high school environment. The Infomat web application serves as an educational tool/material for high school students, focusing on the development of soft skills such as problem-solving, communication, decision-making, media/information literacy, and critical thinking.

Infomat is a publicly available and free web application compatible with all devices and operating systems. Its advantages include not requiring a login, allowing direct access to individual chapters and tests, and automatically sending results to the provided email address after each test is completed.

“In the long term, Slovakia is below the OECD average in PISA surveys. For this reason, we developed Infomat – an app that guides high school students in the development of critical thinking and media literacy in an interactive and fun way,” emphasized Marianna Szarková, winner of the hackathon.

The Slovak Debate Association also contributed to the content creation of the app, which is primarily designed for high school students studying humanities subjects such as civics, history, Slovak language and literature, mathematics, ethics, and more.
